GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 09, 2023) – Julie Nataas and herOslo Tapet & Gulvbelegg (OTG) Top Alcohol dragster team enter this weekend’sAmalie Motor Oil NRHA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway coming off a victory at the Division 2 Baby Gators hosted at the same track just one week prior.
Nataas, who races for Randy Meyer Racing (RMR), started her season at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, Louisiana February 24-26 where her 5.23-second pass at 281 mph earned her a No. 1 qualifying position before having a semifinal exit at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division 4 event. Just one-week later Nataas would take on the Baby Gators at Gainesville Raceway and turn a No.4 qualifying position into the 25th win of her career.
“The Baby Gators always has such a high car count and there’s no easy way around any of them. That regional race is probably one of the hardest and most difficult to win,” Nataas said. “But on race day we stay consistent, kept improving and we were able to lock it up. I’m so proud of this team.”
This weekend, Nataas has the opportunity to “double-up” at historic Gainesville Raceway as she enters the first national event of the 2023 NHRA season, the NRHA Gatornationals.
“It’s the first national of the season and with two regional races under our belt I feel like we are more than capable of finishing on top this weekend,” Nataas said. “We see the off-season work paying off and we all have our confidence back after our not so strong finish last year. It’s not the first time I’ve tried to double-up in Gainesville, now we have another chance and I’m not going to let it slip away this time.”
Qualifying at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals for Nataas and the OTG Top Alcohol dragster team begins Thursday at 4 p.m. and continues Friday with sessions at 11:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Eliminations will start with two rounds on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and continue Sunday with semifinals at 12:55 p.m. and finals at 2:15 p.m.
