Andreas Bakkerud confirms return to Lohéac with PGRX
A World RX runner-up and three-time European Rallycross champion, Andreas Bakkerud is set to make his return to the iconic Lohéac circuit for the sixth round of the 2025 French Rallycross Championship.
The 33-year-old Norwegian has officially confirmed his entry for the event taking place in Brittany from August 29 to 31. For the occasion, Bakkerud will join forces with Klara Andersson under the PGRX banner, driving the very same Hyundai i20 that Sébastien Loeb piloted to victory at Lohéac in 2023.
While he has been focused on Nitrocross in recent seasons with JC Raceteknik / DRR, Bakkerud has also made a point to re-establish himself on European soil this year by creating his own team and developing a fearsome 600-horsepower Ford Puma, which he’s been racing in the Norwegian national championship since spring.
A regular pundit for the official FIA World Rallycross broadcast, Bakkerud will now return to the Supercar category—as well as to a track where he finished second in 2023.
Andreas Bakkerud:
«My goal has never changed: to compete in the biggest rallycross events on the planet, and Lohéac naturally ranks among them as the greatest race in the world. For me, not being there was simply not an option—I want to show what I’m still capable of behind the wheel. Right now, I’m at a stage in my career where I don’t want to race just for the sake of racing. I need a competitive car and a team that’s truly committed to chasing victory—and that’s exactly what PGRX brings to the table.
What I particularly appreciate about Patrick and Charles Guillerme’s team is the atmosphere. PGRX is competitive but retains a strong family spirit. Plus, this Hyundai i20 is one of the few models I’ve never had the chance to drive. I’m expecting a fantastic weekend and I really hope Johan Kristoffersson—the 2024 winner—will be back on the grid, because that would make for one incredible showdown. I would like to thank PGRX, the Lohéac organizers, and my partner Tertnes Holding for this opportunity.»
Patrick Guillerme:
«After welcoming Klara Andersson, we’re extremely proud to confirm that Andreas Bakkerud will also be joining the PGRX team for Lohéac. This entry is the result of a long-standing connection with Andreas—even though he had never raced for us before, he was already part of the extended PGRX family. Our first discussions with him date back several years, when we began taking a serious interest in international events. Andreas has always expressed a desire to one day drive with our team. Now, thanks to close collaboration with Charles [Guillerme, PGRX team manager – Ed.], we’ve finally made it happen.
He’s not coming to Lohéac just to get a feel for the car—he’s coming to win. And I have to say, it’s also a special moment for us because Andreas chose to put his trust in the Hyundai i20 that PGRX and our technical partners designed and built, rather than opting for one of the two Grönholm RX machines. It’s the same car that took Sébastien Loeb to victory here in 2023. In short, Andreas Bakkerud’s decision to race this car is a real endorsement of the work we’ve done over the past few seasons.»
