Ny Red Bull-junior

The Red Bull Junior Team is please to announce the inclusion of 17-year-old Kiwi Liam Lawson in our incredibly strong 2019 line-up. Hailing from around the world, from New Zealand to Norway from Austria to Australia the nine juniors will be racing across the globe from Suzuka to Silverstone, Buriram to Brands Hatch.

The breadth of experience is fascinating, Lawson has just won the New Zealand Grand Prix, the day before his seventeenth birthday, and will now contest the very prestigious and competitive Formula European Masters series with Motopark, the team that took 19-year-old Briton Dan Ticktum to back-to-back Macau victories.

Ticktum and fellow Junior Lucas Auer, the 24-year-old Austrian, will do battle in the Super Formula Series in Japan, chasing Super Licence points and sub F1 experience. At the other end of the age range, second year Junior Harry Thompson, still just 14, will continue his karting career after being named FIA Karting Rookie of the Year in 2018.

While two of our Europeans, Ticktum and Auer, head to Japan as part of the Honda Formula Dream Project, the same initiative brings 18-year-old Japanese Yuki Tsunoda west. He will contest the new FIA F3 series with Jenzer Motorsport and the old F3, now Formula European Masters, with Motopark.

Also in FIA F3 is 18-year-old Estonian Jüri Vips. He races for Hitech having joined the Junior Team for Macau last November.

The Juniors who set last year’s British F4 series alight as 15-year-old dominant rookies, Australian Jack Doohan and Norwegian Dennis Hauger, can now be easier friends as they are racing in different championships. Doohan takes on the Asian F3 series and Euroformula Open while Hauger drives for Van Amersfoort Racing in ADAC F4 and also contests the FIA F4 Italian championship.

In both series Hauger will come up against 15-year-old Briton Jonny Edgar who steps up from karting with the FIA F4 Italian championship his main focus but with selected ADAC F4 rounds also on his schedule.
