#17 Ayumu Iwasa (JAP – DAMS Dallara Mecachrome)
FIA F2 Championship position: 13th – 38 points – after 14 of 28 races

All 4 Red Bull Juniors have shown the ability to score well this year and as the first half of the F2 season concludes in Spielberg they all know that a good points haul is needed to set them up for an attack on championship in the 14 races that follow.

Jehan Daruvala has been on the podium 5 times, 4 times 2nd, but has yet to win in 2022. Liam Lawson has a Sprint Race win as part of his 5 podium appearances but has also had bad luck including 3 DNFs.

Dennis Hauger has won both a Sprint and Feature Race in a total of 3 podiums and needs to add consistency to brilliance. Ayumu Iwasa is also an F2 newcomer and has twice been 2nd, Silverstone was so close to a Sprint Race win.

Hauger has won and wants to repeat

“There are lots of opportunities at the Red Bull Ring, quite a few straights and chances to overtake,” points out the 19-year-old Norwegian. “It is always quite tight on times in Qualifying so it will be important to get everything right.”

“I wouldn’t say it is the most exciting track ever but it is certainly fun and a real challenge to put everything together. It really comes down to the details in getting the best lap. Also in the races there is normally a lot happening.”

“I won there in F3 last year so I know that generally I have the pace on track but have never been there with an F2 car so we’ll have to see. We’ll be doing all the prep and be as ready as possible for the weekend.”
