Norway’s Aleksander Schjerpen is set to return to the 24H Series next weekend, teaming up with German outfit Leipert Motorsport with whom he has achieved much success in the past. Sporting a 2018 specification Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo, the team will be looking to build upon their podium result from the 2017 running of the same event at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas.
The Garage15 backed driver has enjoyed a strong 2019 campaign, making his debut in the 2019 Italian GT4 Championship alongside Luca Magnoni. Run by NOVA Race, initially the pair campaigned a Ginetta G55 before the team opted to finish the final round of the season in a brand new, factory supported Mercedes AMG GT4. The pair completed the series as runners-up in the GT4 class, narrowly missing out on the top spot in the closing laps of the final race.
No stranger to success in long distance racing, Leipert and Schjerpen have enjoyed much success over the years and the team are now entering a crucial event as leaders of the teams championship, something they are very much keen to secure at the US event. Joining the Pepsi Max supported Norwegian on the event will be Germany’s Harald Schlotter, Russia’s Alexey Karachev and Denis Soglaev with US native Gregg Gorski completing the quintet for 24 hours of hard racing around the US Formula 1 Grand Prix host venue.
Aleksander Schjerpen – #710 Leipert Motorsport Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo 2018:
“2019 has been a great year so far this year, and I’m really hoping to finish with a strong result in America. The Leipert guys are great and I’m really looking forward to racing with them again. The teams championship is our aim so hopefully we can help them to win that. I feel like I am driving at my best at the moment after an exciting year in Italy, so hopefully this will help us at COTA.”
