TEAM

#62 Dennis Hauger (NOR – Van Amersfoort Racing Tatuus F.4 T014 Abarth)
Italian F4 Championship position: 2nd – 165 points after 11 of 21 races

#17 Jonny Edgar (GBR – Jenzer Motorsport Tatuus F.4 T014 Abarth)
Italian F4 Championship position: 13th – 31 points after 11 of 21 races

The classic Italian Grand Prix circuit at Imola is the venue for four Italian F4 races this weekend and Red Bull Juniors Dennis Hauger and Jonny Edgar are determined to make the most of it. Along with the usual three races, the Misano race that was abandoned because of the weather early in the season will be run at the end of Sunday’s schedule.

Hauger, the 16-year-old Norwegian, had a great weekend last time out in the Italian series with 5th, 2nd and 1st at the Red Bull Ring and is now only 4 points behind the championship leader with 10 races remaining.

Hauger hunting down the lead

“We don’t need to do anything different to the other weekends, we’ve got things going pretty well, we need keep away from the bad luck we had at the Nurburgring and be consistent,” explained Hauger whose misfortune in the recent ADAC round included having track debris cut his electronics. “I need to keep my head focussed as it is a very important stage in the championship, the chance to make good points and take the lead.”

“The track is interesting and tricky, easy to make mistakes. There are a lot of combination corners where you use the kerbs, there’s a lot of movement so it is important to set the car up to make that work for you because it makes a big difference to the speed coming off the turn,” concluded the Van Amersfoort Racing driver who was clearly fastest in July’s Imola test.

Edgar avoiding problems at a classic circuit

“I’ve never raced here but we did the test a few weeks ago and that went well, better than at some of the other tracks but testing isn’t racing so we need to see how it goes,” said the 15-year-old Briton.

“I really like the circuit, it’s an old style track, a lot of up and down, varied corners, more variety than some of the modern tracks I think, more interesting.”

“I think we are doing OK so far this year, not so much that we need to improve things it’s more about avoiding problems and mistakes that we have made in a few races. It’s good that we have four races here, I think it will be a great weekend,” enthused the Jenzer Motorsport driver.
