Pressemelding: Bakkerud tilbake i Supercar

Andreas Bakkerud er tilbake i Supercar-klassen i rallycross neste sesong, og skal kjøre EM for sitt lokale team fra Bergen. Les mer i denne pressemeldingen på engelsk.

Andreas Bakkerud is making his long-awaited return to the FIA European Rallycross Championship in 2026! The 2021 European champion has spent the last few years competing in NitroCross in the United States while building his own team, Bergen Motorsport Evolution, to race in the Norwegian Rallycross Championship.

This year in Norway has been awesome in every possible way, but I always aim higher,” Bakkerud says. “Now we’re ready to take the next step — back to Europe!

Building a New Team — and a New Dream

Bakkerud founded Bergen Motorsport Evolution with a clear mission: The Road to the World Championship. Step one was creating a professional team and building a race car. Step two was assembling a strong crew — a goal the team achieved quickly while competing successfully in Norway this season.

Thanks to a solid year on home soil, the team now has the foundation to expand onto the European stage. Bakkerud also confirmed that Tertnes Holding, led by Jan Olav Jørgensen, will become a key partner in the project. Together, they have acquired a Ford Fiesta (M-Sport built) — the very car that Anton Marklund drove to the 2023 European Rallycross Championship title with SET Promotion.

Reunited with SET Promotion

SET Promotion holds a special place in Bakkerud’s career. The Finnish squad helped launch his international journey in 2011–2012, when he won his first European Championship title in the Super1600 class.

SET Promotion is where I took my first big steps in rallycross,” Bakkerud says. “Jussi and the team have supported me since the beginning, and it feels amazing that our paths are crossing again.

SET Promotion will provide technical and logistical support throughout the season, both at races and during the car’s winter preparation.

A Car with a Legacy

The M-Sport Ford Fiesta is a machine Bakkerud has admired for years.

Ever since I saw Ken Block on the podium at his first World RX race in Hell, Norway, in 2014, I’ve dreamed of driving this car,” Bakkerud shares. “Yes, it’s a few years old, but it’s still one of the best rallycross cars ever built. I can’t wait to get behind the wheel and push for a thrilling season in 2026!

Eyes on 2028

Winning the European Rallycross Championship title is, of course, a key goal — but Bakkerud’s ambitions reach even further. The long-term plan is to build experience, knowledge, and infrastructure with Bergen Motorsport Evolution in preparation for 2028, the year World Rallycross is set to return.

That’s the biggest trophy — and the only one missing in my closet!” Bakkerud says with a smile.

Next Steps

Bergen Motorsport Evolution has secured its car and transporter, and sponsorship discussions are ongoing to finalize the budget for the upcoming season.

We’re close, but we still need to pull a few strings to make it all happen,” Bakkerud says. “With the right partners on board, we’ll be ready to fight for podiums — and maybe even another title.
