ENNIS, Texas (Oct. 11, 2023) – Julie Nataas and her Randy Meyer Racing (RMR) Oslo Tapet & Gulvelegg (OTG) Top Alcohol Dragster team enter this weekend’s Texas NHRA FallNationals at Texas Motorplex looking to pick up a victory on Sunday but also to defend their two-consecutive wins in the JEGS TopAlcohol Allstars event.
“This will be my fourth year competing in the JEGS Allstars and the first time we’re doing it in Dallas,” Nataas said. ‘I’m back to defend my2021 and 2022 title. I hope we can do it in a less dramatic way than how we won it last year. On her way to the JEGS Allstars victory, Nataas and her OTG dragster had some issues on track. Racing against Joey Severance in the finals, the parachute on the OTG dragster came out at halftrack and the body panels flew off the car near the finish line. Neither parachute nor missing body panels hindered Nataas’ ability to turn on the win light for her second consecutive JEGS Allstars victory. Coming off a victory at the NHRA Carolina Nationals where she earned her 63-point lead, Nataas and the OTG team have just three races left before they hope to call themselves world champions. With a solid showing at the FallNationals, Nataas will have the option to replace a past national event performance to help boost her points standings. “We are getting close to end of the season so this will be the first race that we could consider not counting or switch out for championship points. We do have a first-round loss and two second-round losses that we want to switch out for something better. We have a lot to gain and I’m 100% confident in myself and my team that we will change those races out for something better. “It’s always fun to go to Texas for the Stampede of Speed. We have a packed schedule with JEGS and chasing points for the world championship,” Nataas continued. “Last year we didn’t qualify for the race, but we’re in a lot better shape this year. I’m ready for a cowboy hat.” The OTG team have had six total victories this season including regional event wins at Gainesville Raceway in Florida, the Texas Motorplex, Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio and Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka, Kansas that earned them the North Central Regional championship and national event victories at Gainesville Raceway and most recently zMAX in North Carolina. Nataas and the RMR OTG Top Alcohol Dragster team will kick off competition for this weekend with qualifying on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.and Friday at 11:45 a.m. JEGS Allstars first round of eliminations will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. followed by another qualifying session at 3 p.m. Round two of the JEGS Allstars will be a 6 p.m. Round one of the Texas FallNationals eliminations will take place Saturday at 10:30 a.m. followed by the JEGS semifinals at 11:30a.m. and finals at 3 p.m. FallNationals eliminations continue with round two Saturday at 6:05 p.m. Semifinals will be on Sunday at 2:45 p.m. with finals at3:55 p.m. |
